Diapering Gear

What do you need besides diapers and wipes to make sure your bundle of joy is dry and happy!? The basics of course, creams, wipes, bags for on the go and a few other items that are nice to have. I'll go through each item you need on this page, my top choice for purchase, as well as the items you may want to have as a mother, but don't really need. Enjoy

P.S. Each title is a clickable link with search engine results on amazon so you can start browsing different categories!

Baby Wipes

Picture
I could talk about baby wipes all day, just like I can talk about disposable diaper brands! These are also controversial and mother dependant. In my opinion, a wipe is a wipe is a wipe. You can honestly make your own for a lot cheaper and they work just as well as the manufactured brands. Anywho I'm partial to Huggies natural care baby wipes. I generally get these from boxed.com in the refill packages as they come with a cute plastic container and hand carrier for wipes on the go! Costs me $29.99 for 1160 wipes! Not bad at all. Of course amazon sells the same product for $45 dollars.

Diaper Rash Cream

Picture
When it comes to a diaper rash cream, every mother has their personal preference. My sister used Desitin, my mother used aquaphor, and I SWEAR by Triple Paste. Whatever cream you prefer, make sure it sits well with your little one. We used Desitin for a long time until these parents in Wal*Mart overheard my husband and I talking about trying a new diaper rash cream for Matilda. They stopped us politely and mentioned the Triple Paste. I gave it a go and never looked back. It literally got rid of her diaper rash in like 2 hours. The stuff works miracles. Just get some cream for those tiny hineys!

Diaper Bag

Picture
Oh, the illustrious diaper bag! There are LITERALLY like 1000 million of these things on the market now. I think it really just depends on your price point, how much junk you're going to bring with you on a trip, and what your personal preference is.  I purchased the one pictured because I was having a girl, loved owls, and liked that it came with 10 pieces and was under 30 bucks. I use the smaller diaper bag for quick trips, this one usually stays in the car, and the bigger bag for longer trips, like to a grandparent's house.

Changing Table and Changing Pad with Covers

Picture
Not all parent's use the changing table. Now that Matilda is older, I'm more prone to use the bed or the couch. HOWEVER, I will tell you I still use the dang changing table with her at 11 months old. I ended up buying a summer infant contoured changing pad with two plush covers.  I use the baskets to hold her diapers, wipes, cream, and after bath lotions. I've gotten a lot of use out of mine, so I call it a need, not a WANT.

Nice to Haves and Optionals

Some things are optional in my opinion with diapering, but some parent's are very fussy about their children being pampered and comfortable. Things like diaper warmers and diaper genies are frivolous in my opinion. We use a bucket with a snap lid in Matilda's room for a diaper pail and place odor eaters inside of the bottom. Wipe warmer... your hand will do the job just fine. We also got a diaper caddy/organizer that now sits in the closet. I think we used it for like 3 months and then when we moved never put it back up because everything is in cloth baskets in the house. We have those in the rooms where we do the most diaper changes. If you get everything above and feel like adding to it, those are some of the nice things to have for your little one.
